CONS: our check in time was at 4 p.m., we didn't get our keys until 5 because house keeping wasn't done cleaning the room. So we were left outside burning up and sweating waiting on them to finish. We have had a service dog for many years and have always taken her with us. She is for my mother who needs her at night to alert us if something is wrong while she is sleeping. Suddenly (after being there for 3-4 days) the Guest Service Supervisor, Karen, said we could not keep her in our room even though she wasn't barking at all. It was over 95 degrees and we had reservations to go on a night boat cruise. Again as stated at the very beginning, we have stayed at this Wyndham many times and they have never told us about this supposed policy. This was just a disappointment in Wyndham because we've stayed at this Wyndham and many others in different states and this has NEVER been an issue at any of them. The company may want to retrain their staff on federal regulations on service dogs and customer service skills.
Very clean rooms, great set up kitchen area and bedrooms. Will be back and bring friends.
Pros: The location of this place is great! It's right across the street from the beach and the area is more residential. It's a lot less crazy than the bigger resorts down the road. It's also not very far from Destin, Sandestin, or Ft. Walton Beaches. The cottages are also cute and quaint.
Cons: The cottages are cute but are in need of updating. The carpet and furniture in our unit had stains :-( They are also very small. If you are used to the large Wyndham resorts, this will be a big change. This is also a vacation club rental and they push selling the club extremely hard. We've stayed at other vacation clubs and the hustle is not nearly as bad. After driving for over 12 hours with two small children (one only 10 months old), we were corned in the back of the reception area by the salespeople. It was obvious that we were not interested in their spiel especially while holding a tired crabby baby! They also continued to stalk us for our entire stay. We were using points from my husbands parents. We didn't and don't need to join the vacation club.
Overall I think the Street Cottages are just average. There is nothing special about them. No WOW factor that we've gotten from other Wyndham properties. If we go back to the Destin area we will probably stay there but only because of the location - not the accommodations.
PROS: just across the street from the beach, close to restaurants and shopping, great rooms and balconies. One of my favorite places Wyndham has!
Clean, friendly staff, beautiful beach across the street. Restaurant next door and across the street
Okay for starters I just want to say I've stayed at this Wydham MANY times, this was just our experience this year.
Easy walk across the street to the beach. Spacious, clean and amazing. If you own Wyndham timeshare this is a must every year. If you are renting, it's worth the affordable cash price. There are at least 3 popular restaurants within short walking distance also like captain Dave's (across the street) which is great seafood, and the Crab Trap down the road which as it happens is also a tourist trap. Ha! All in all we love the beachstreet cottages because we get more privacy and space for the same price as a hotel or big resort. Full kitchen amenities a big huge plus! Home away from home!!!
