Great place to stay in Destin! The pools are absolutely amazing, bar staff and drinks are great, food is pretty good too (Guido's) and the location is nice. Although its not directly on the beach, its just right across the street with plenty of public beach access areas. The only reason i didnt give it a 5 star is the accessibility throughout the resort. Some of the gates lock in the pool area for no apprent reason and you have to remember different codes to get in and out. Its also an inconvenience to park. The parking garage (only place to park) is not locacated/attached to the rooming area. So you have to walk a little bit to even get back to your room.
My family came here for our vacation this Thanksgiving and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. With the beach and shopping all in walking distance we found something different to do everyday. I didn't mention the dining that's available at every corner. I believe we may have found us a new holiday tradition.
Dead cockroaches in the hallways, not cleaned up for days. Cockroaches in the rooms. We had to kill two huge ones in our room on the 12th floor today. Front desk generally doesn't have answers or is able to help with most issues. We did have a maintenance guy come and help with a couple things after about 36 hours. He was really helpful. Room is spacious and view is great. Full kitchen with granite counters is great, but refrigerator water filter hasn't been replaced since 2010. Bathrooms are large and functional. Shower is very nice and bathtub is quite spacious.
There was not a 24/7 desk clerk, so you had to wait until 9 for anything. The door leading into the check in area was so heavy you had to put everything you had into getting it opened. The pool while nice was not supervised so there were kids jumping and doing flips off the bridge into the pool. The playground has wasps and I got stung. The shuttle they have for the beach doesn't run until 10 and its map is hard to read when they will be there. And if you are the front desk about it they have no idea and tell you to call the limo service. The key cards are not allowed to be near your phone or credit cards because they can be deactivated and there were 4 of us with key cards and none of them worked by the 3rd day so we had to get a new card and then on the last day... thank goodness we were leaving because the new key card was deactivated too.
Late arrival was a major pain since the parking pass they give you has confusing and inaccurate information on the back. It said that you must park in your assigned spot, but there was no spot with our number. Went back to front desk and was told that there were no assigned spots. Papers you get have a number on it but no explanation what it does. Room keys do not work on the doors to enter the building, you have to figure out that you need to enter the number on the paper.
Room was exactly what I saw in pics. Beautiful pool Palm trees everywhere. Hot tub was huge with many jets. Kitchen had everything you need to cook meals. Balcony overlooking pools was a nice view. Really don't have any complaints. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a vacation " home " instead of a hotel room. Don't know about service cause we didn't need anything and we were never bothered by anyone. We just came and went as we pleased. Just how I wanted it. Price was fair and everyone was happy. Very nice week away!!
